  • Job DescriptionThe course on ‘WELDER (Welding & Inspection)’is meant for a trainee who aspires to become a professional welder with inspection skills. After successful completion of this course the trainee shall be able to perform the following skills: 1. Welding of MS Sheet and MS Pipe by GAS welding process. 2. Welding of MS Plate in all position by SMAW process. 3. Straight, Bevel & Circular cutting on MS Plate by Oxy-Acetylene cutting process. 4. Repair & Maintenance works. 5. Measurement using Vernier calipers, Micrometer, height gauges and weld gauges. 6. Carry out welding using GMAW & GTAW plants. 7. Inspect and test welds by using Non-destructive Testing methods-PT, MPT, UT. 8. Study of IIW / ASTM reference Radiograph to Interpret Radiographic films. 9. Prepare weld test reports.

  • International Comparability
    1. Existence of any official document suggesting the comparability of the qualification with the qualifications in other countries is not known.
    2. However, ITI passed out trainees are getting employment in many Gulf countries, European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore etc.
  • Progression Pathway
    1. Qualifying trainee shall obtain an NCVT Certificate in WELDER (WELDING & INSPECTION) trade which places the trainee in a position to investigate requirements for progression to a National Apprenticeship Certificate or National Craft Instructor Certificate.
    2. This qualification shall enable the trainee to find employment as a skilled worker.
  • Planned arrangements for RPL
    1. At present the students who have passed 8th class with minimum 3 years experience can appear for NCVT theory and practical semester examination directly.
    2. The students who have passed SCVT examination can also appear for the NCVT Examination in the relevant semester and Trade directly.
