  • Job DescriptionThe course on ‘WELDER (PIPE)’ is meant for a trainee who aspires to become a professional welder specializing in all position welding on pipe & tubes. After successful completion of this course the trainee shall be able to perform the following skills: 1. Welding of M.S. Sheet and M.S. Pipe by GAS welding process. 2. Welding of M.S. Plate in all position by SMAW process. 3. Straight, Bevel & Circular cutting on MS. Plate by Oxy-Acetylene cutting process. 4. Repair & Maintenance works. 5. Gouging, Gas and Plasma cutting on MS plates. 6. Groove welding on MS plate in 1G, 2G, 3G & 4G positions. 7. Prepare and weld pipes in 1G, 2G, 5G & 6G positions by SMAW & GTAW. 8. Prepare and fit pipes for T, Y, K joints and weld by SMAW. 9. Welding of pipe by GMAW. 10. Inspect and test welds by using Non-destructive Testing method – PT.

  • International Comparability
    1. Existence of any official document suggesting the comparability of the qualification with the qualifications in other countries is not known.
    2. However, ITI passed out trainees are getting employment in many Gulf countries, European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore etc.
  • Progression Pathway
    1. Qualifying trainee shall obtain an NCVT Certificate in WELDER (PIPE) trade which places the trainee in a position to investigate requirements for progression to a National Apprenticeship Certificate or National Craft Instructor Certificate.
    2. This qualification shall enable the trainee to find employment as a skilled worker.
  • Planned arrangements for RPL
    1. At present the students who have passed 8th class with minimum 3 years experience can appear for NCVT theory and practical semester examination directly.
    2. The students who have passed SCVT examination can also appear for the NCVT Examination in the relevant semester and Trade directly.
