  • Job DescriptionThe course on ‘Sheet Metal Worker’ is meant for a trainee who aspires to become a professional sheet metal fabricator.  After successful completion of this course the trainee shall be able to perform the following skills: 1. Selects sheet of required type, thickness (gauge) and size and mark it with scriber, square, divider, foot rule etc., according to drawing or sample. 2. Shears wherever necessary by machine or hand shear and make it to required shape and size by bending, seaming, forming, riveting, soldering etc., using mallets, hammers, formers, sets, stakes, etc., or by various operations such as shearing, bending, beading, channelling , circle cutting. 3. Performs soldering, brazing 4. Makes sheet metal articles according to drawing or sample. 5. Makes ducts, cabins and panels 6. Undertakes Aluminium frame works 7. Undertake repair work. 8. Work in different sheet metals such as tin, copper, brass.

  • International Comparability
    1. Existence of any official document suggesting the comparability of the qualification with the qualifications in other countries is not known.
    2. However, ITI passed out trainees are getting employment in many Gulf countries, European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore etc.
  • Progression Pathway
    1. Qualifying trainee shall obtain an NCVT Certificate in SHEET METAL WORKER trade which places the trainee in a position to investigate requirements for progression to a National Apprenticeship Certificate or National Craft Instructor Certificate.
    2. This qualification shall enable the trainee to find employment as a skilled worker.
  • Planned arrangements for RPL
    1. At present the students who have passed 8th class with minimum 3 years experience can appear for NCVT theory and practical semester examination directly.
    2. The students who have passed SCVT examination can also appear for the NCVT Examination in the relevant semester and Trade directly.
